#1267 (sold)

A blue on blue flower is my last post for 2013.
Because I am taking New Year's Eve off to play, and New Year's Day too.
Because I can!  See you on Jan 2, 2014!

A sweet pair of shiny Mary Jane's printed on a warm gray on a pale yellow green background.
Flecks of fibers are visible from the rice paper.
That's it for the week, see you back here on Monday!

Blue houndstooth #1323 (sold)

I am looking forward to using this pattern on a big piece, just to see what it can do. Until then, here is just a taste. Midnight blue and almost black.
No number for this one yet.
See you here tomorrow!

#1294 (sold)

Just tossing a few stars your way.
There we have it, a whole week full of new designs.  Have no fear, I'll be back to the same boring ones next week.  (Of course I'm kidding.)
Maybe, I should take a whole week off for Christmas?!
I could do that!
Let's talk about it on Monday.

Yipes Stripes! #1295 (sold)

Reds and corals and pinks all mingle in this hot little number.
It makes me think of hibiscus, and all things tropical.
Enjoy, and think warm thoughts!

Fireworks! (sold)

You thought I forgot didn't you?
I've been posting an (elle)ement a day for over a year now.  And I have forgotten a couple.  But not today's!
Midnight blue over white.
Have a firework-worthy day!

Yep, I need to remember to number these... (#1299 sold)

A new polka dotted leaf shape, on red that just barely tilts towards the orange side of the spectrum.
With a touch of simplicity for you pattern fans.
And another new one coming for tomorrow, she is a machine!

New pattern

This week I'm going to shake things up a little by challenging myself to a new pattern or block print that you haven't seen each day.  Starting with some houndstooth.  Coral red over salmon pink.  Has anyone else noticed that houndstooth looks a little like Batman?
Clearly I have been spending too much time alone in the studio.

#1273

If Santa wore polka dots.
A simple fun pattern, white on red.
Have a great day, I'll be in the studio coming up with something for tomorrow!

#1292

Today's piece is a fancy bit of lacy damask.
Warm blue, (yes there is such a thing) over the palest peach.
See you back here tomorrow!

#1293

There is a little chill in the air, so I thought I would pull out this pretty (elle)ement.  Two paisleys in cream over a grey background.  Like many, this one hangs well more than one way, enjoy!  And happy Monday!

#1276 (sold)

I have a little pile of cool wintry (elle)ements sitting here, ready to post.  But as it is already over 70 degrees today, they just don't seem fitting.  So, here's a warm little bird.
Maybe we'll have winter this year, before spring, or maybe not.

#1281 (sold)

It must have been a good night if you woke seeing pink chickens.
Really, that's all I have.
A pink chicken.

#1282 (sold)

I hate to bring this up, but it is 70 degrees this morning in Georgia.  Seventy.
If that doesn't make you think of flowers, I don't know what will.
Have a great day crazy daisies.

#1278

In the South, deviled eggs seem omnipresent.  Especially in the summer time, next to potato salads and the like.  But when I was growing up, we made deviled eggs at Christmas time. So this little egg on a deep burgundy background may ring your bell, or make you shake your head.  In either case, have a great day, and I'll see you back here tomorrow.

#1275

Hello Black Friday Shoppers!
It's a MEGAPHONE!
In red, on yellow tinted pattern paper, that's enough yelling for now.  See you back here on Monday.

#1280 (sold)

A big pink target, what can I say?  Graphic, punchy, and hey, if your name happens to be Kirk, or Karen, or Khan...it has your initial on it!

Happy Turkey day tomorrow, in celebration of all things thankful, the daily (elle)ement will be sleeping past noon, and saving the next one for Friday. Enjoy!

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

#1274 (sold)

Another paisley, this time in white on a strawberry red background. A perfect addition to that French kitchen perhaps?

Monday, November 25, 2013

#1279

In the pink!  Those of you who follow me on Facebook know that I spent some time last week carving paisleys.  They are for a commission I am working on, perhaps I'll show it off when it's finished.  Until then, here is a tiny element of the piece. (see what I did there!)

You didn't know I am on Facebook?  Here you go...

The other half

Looks like I have to catch up on some numbering here.
In the meantime, here's the other half of the Chrysanthemum from yesterday.  Now time to get back to the studio to see what I can pull together for a big Friday finish.

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

To be numbered, mum. #1271 (sold)

A rather busy little abstract composition, a bit of a blue grey chrysanthemum on a warm yellow background.  Lots of diagonal lines from the sewing pattern it's printed on.  And I think the other half may just be tomorrow's.

Tropical blues (#1270 sold)

Sometimes the blues can be quite tropical.  This color combination reminds me of the South of France, where it was abundant in textiles when I first visited.  It is still one of my favorites.
Turquoise on bright yellow green.

Monday, November 18, 2013

#764 (sold)

What follows the bird?  The bee of course!  Hang them together for a little giggle.
Black bee on a beautiful blue green.

Friday, November 15, 2013

#1263 (sold)

Ending the week with a bird, on a deep midnight blue.  What will follow the bird?  Check back Monday to see!  Happy weekend!

Thursday, November 14, 2013

#1269

Two blues of similar value, value meaning lightness/darkness.  But one leans towards the purple side, and one towards turquoise.  A pretty combination.

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

#1268 (sold)

White over deep ultramarine.  A pretty lacy pattern, who can resist?

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

#1264

Another bluesy number.  The color just isn't right in this shot though, what looks like pale grey is actually a robin's egg blue, and the deep blue is what I would call teal.  Just doing the best with what I have here folks!

A week of the blues

It just seems like a good time for a the blues.
Starting here, with number 1265, an ultramarine blue over a Wedgewood-ish blue background.   Keep checking in this week to see how pretty the blues can be.

Friday, November 8, 2013

#1086

A beautiful damask pattern in cornflower blue and pea soup green.  An odd sounding combination, but it works, elegantly.  This pattern was designed by my husband, Scott.  It really is handy to have a guy around, who when you are pushed for time, can step up to the plate and come up with something so lovely.

Thursday, November 7, 2013

#1069

A warm almost glowing piece.  I'd have to call this marigold yellow perhaps, on a fiery red.
Have a great day.

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

#1258

A tufted titmouse on a washy dark chocolate background.  A great starter piece if neutral colors are more your thing.  Enjoy!

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

#1177

A bit of a knot.  Not a naughty piece, but a knotty piece.  Red on rice paper over a pale buttery yellow.  I see lots of red (elle)ements lately, wouldn't they make a nice group?

Monday, November 4, 2013

#1250

A deviled egg on a bright red.  The flecks of white are the visible fibers from the rice paper the egg is printed on.  Sure to add a little retro pop.  Enjoy.

#1133

A shooting star, complete with a trail made from the dart lines on pattern tissue.  Charcoal grey on a yellow ochre background.  Happy Friday, see you back here with a new batch on Monday!

Thursday, October 31, 2013

#1211

The rest of the story.  The background color on this is a little different from the bottom, a warmer yellow.  Something that will irritate the stuffing out of those who need everything to match.
Happy Halloween!

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

#1188

This one is a bit of a tease, as it does connect with the top half, which will be tomorrow's piece.  But the occasional person does like this one as is, without it's mate.  The background color leans to green, obviously printed on dress pattern tissue.  See you back here tomorrow!

#1254

This striking bird wings his way across the canvas...a little much perhaps?
Black printed over an almost neutral green, if all else fails, put a bird on it!

Monday, October 28, 2013

#1152

Charcoal grey on lemony yellow.  A sweet, but very formal piece.  Interested in commissioning a group of striking, formal (elle)ements in a particular color?  Let's talk!

Friday, October 25, 2013

#1256 (sold)

A bright red bee will get some attention.  Printed on rice paper, hence all the visible fibers.

#983

Bubbles? Pebbles? I'm not sure either.
The arrow is from the dress pattern tissue it is printed on, and the background is sort of a dirty turquoise.  Which is much prettier than it sounds.

#1261 (sold)

One of my favorite images, this is part of the puppet from the large piece appropriately titled "Puppet"  I just looked back on my dresspainting blog and found I never wrote a post on that piece, but you can see it in progress here... http://dresspaintings.blogspot.com/2013/03/percolating.html

The background is a washy grape color, and puppet is printed in almost black on rice paper.

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

#1180

Today's little piece features a street scene from one of my favorite places.
Printed on rice paper, the background is a purplish grey, or perhaps even mauve.
Enjoy.

#1259

A polar bear wearing a crown.  Printed on rice paper over a minty green background.  He does think he's pretty special doesn't he?

Thursday, October 17, 2013

Out of control.

They are everywhere.

As you know, I post a new (elle)ement each day.  I also take them to shows.

Some are in boxes, some are beside my desk, many have been sold and have either been shipped, or are waiting in piles to be shipped.  But those that haven't sold are building up.

So here is the deal, below are three photos showing all the (elle)ements I have put up on the blog that haven't sold.  They will be available here until Monday when I box them up and put them into my inventory that goes with me to shows.  Next up, by the way, is RiverArts Fest in Memphis, TN next weekend!

And just to sweeten the pot, I'll take 10% off any sales of these through Sunday night.
As usual, if you find four you like, I'll ship them for free.

Here we have, in no particular order

Group 1

Group 2

And group 3

And just to get you thinking, here are some groups I pulled out of the sea of availables...

Four focusing on purple and green.

Six subtle pieces, they would sing in a pale room, or at a beach house perhaps?

9 that just pop with reds and graphic images.

And another 9, just for fall, or lovers of fall colors.

Interested in one, or a bunch?  At $22.50 each, you can afford a treat!
Send me an email with your choices, obviously they will be first come first serve.

Enjoy!
