#686 (sold)

Today's (elle)ement is a simple neutral piece, a stylized flower shape in bone white on a warm grey background.  A nice quiet piece to soften a jumbled group, of a great piece to start a collection of subtle abstract pieces.  And it will look great with any of the rest of this week's black and whites.

#688 (sold)

What's black and white and read all over?  Well, I'm not really sure if that fits, but in any case it is Black and White week here.  With some greys tossed in for balance.  Here is the first, I hope you will come back and see them all.

Go (crazy) (sold)

Just like yesterday, this one has no number, so for now we'll call it Go Crazy.  Because, just like yesterday, and it is still yesterday here, even though to you it is tomorrow, because it will be tomorrow when you read this.  I know that doesn't make a bit of sense.  Go is printed in a cream on an almost emerald green background.  And it is time for me to go...
Next week will be better, much more black and white, I promise.

crazy daisies (sold)

Crazy daisies for a crazy day, this one will get a number eventually, but for now, they and I are just crazy.  Trying to get out the door for a show in Birmingham AL, come see me and a bunch of (elle)ements at the Magic City Contemporary Arts Festival in downtown Birmingham.  This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

#683 (sold)

Here we go, a busy little piece featuring a couple of lino prints that came from advertising images in a 60's Life magazine.  Happy women doing laundry and throwing cocktail parties, dolled up with a few extra flowers.  Grey and black on a coral background, my latest favorite color apparently. Enjoy!

#672 (sold)

This funny crowned polar bear is printed in blue grey on a beautiful coral background.  He also has a couple of buttons, and a center line running, well, down the center.  What little bit of weird will I find for you tomorrow?

#671 (sold)

Last weeks series was so sweet, that I need a little comic relief.  Welcome to the week of targeting the weirdoes.  So obviously we need to begin with a target, the weirdoes begin tomorrow.  See you then!

#670 (sold)

Today's piece is a busy bird.  Busy with text from the pattern piece it is printed on.  The bird is printed in a grey that blends from a mid to deep grey, over a simple neutral background.  Enjoy your weekend busy birds, and come back on Monday!

#669 (sold)

A welcome punch of spring color, a fresh green pattern practically vibrates on a background of coral.  This would be a complimentary discord for all you color theory fans, that is complimentary colors lightened to similar values.  That's what makes it sing!

#666 (sold)

This week I've decided to post all things spring and spring like.  What could be more spring than a sheep?  Well there is a twist to this one, he is a black sheep, and unfortunately he managed to come up with an unfortunate number. 666.  So if you are brave enough to hang a black sheep, with this number on the back...well, here is your opportunity!

We will be back to flowers and birds and pretty things again tomorrow, I promise.

A sheep (sold)

I can't resist a pun, especially a visual one, so here is A sheep.  The sheep image is part of a couple of large works in progress.  I am printing in white for a new "Goody Two Shoes" and in black for "Black Sheep"  The background is a warm mid grey, with the sheep printed in off white.  Somehow it's Friday already!  See you next week.

#626 (sold)

Next week I'll be heading back to the Lone Star State, so I guess I should bring a few of these!  Today's piece is not shy, a bold star on a very texty piece of pattern paper. (It's a new word, I just made it up, deal.)  Back to the studio for me, this stuff doesn't make itself you know...

#665 (sold)

Tea for two and two for tea... So why would anyone hang a 2 on their wall?  Were you born on the second? Your 2nd anniversary is coming up?  You have 2 great kids, you tossed two lousy husbands?  You are a bit of a typography junkie, and just like the way it looks?  This two is from a piece in progress, a new Goody Two Shoes.  Maybe that's why you like it?

#664 (sold)

Today's (elle)ement is a sneak peak at a new damask pattern designed by Scott!  It is printed in a pale buttery yellow on a taupe, or almost chocolate milk background.  Hmm, butter, and chocolate milk, who wants to guess whether or not I've had breakfast this morning?  In any case, it's a beauty, and I'm looking forward to seeing this pattern repeat across a big piece!

Digging in the archives

Let's start the week looking at a few pieces from way back in the beginning of this blog.  These four have been wallflowers since the beginning, and they look quite smashing together as a group!  Starting from the top we have #286, #427, #218, and #303.

I am going to go through the ones that haven't sold, and put all the (elle)ements from March 1 and earlier back into my art show inventory, they will all be marked sold on the blog.  I plan on getting this little job done at the end of this week, so don't dally, keep hitting the "earlier posts" button at the bottom of the blog to see what you may have missed.

And come back tomorrow, I will bring out something fresh! Promise.

#652 (sold)

Although this looks better than it sounds, today's (elle)ement is a mix of moss and milk chocolate.  A modern damask pattern twists it's way through the piece.  Happy Friday everyone, and I'll see you back here on Monday.

#651 (sold)

Good morning!  This piece is a mossy, or perhaps pea soup green over a yellow background.  The design comes from an ancient floor tile.  Enjoy, and come back again!

#274 (sold)

I'm going to finish off the week with a trio of earthy warm (elle)ements.  Today's is the top of a charcoal fleur des lis over a pumpkin colored background.  This is the color that my Dad painted his newly restored '54 Chev when I was in elementary school.  I don't think he ever intended to be thought of whenever I see pumpkin orange, but that's just the way things turn out sometimes.

new bird (sold)

This bird is so new, he hasn't been numbered yet.  But I think he's pretty cool, flying across the end of a sash.  Where will he end up?

Love = Love (sold)

To honor all the positive energy last week surrounding the issue of marriage equality, this is today's batch of (elle)ements.  The set of 6 is $150, once the group sells, I will donate one (elle)ement's worth to the Equal Rights Campaign.  So do you have space in your home for this group?  How about in your heart?
