A lattice of overlapping circles in red, on a pale sky blue. This is one of those patterns that can be repeated into infinity, and gets used a lot in my larger work. Speaking of, if you haven't checked out my dress painting blog out lately, take a look... www.dresspaintings.blogspot.com

#440 (sold)
A bone white bee rests on a coffee and cream colored background that is broken up with subtle grey swirls. The bees are always my favorites.

#605 (sold)
A gingko leaf floats across a golden background. And sometimes I can't help but let the lettering from the pattern it is printed on just take over. Shorts. It kinda makes me giggle.

#318 (sold)
A charcoal grey damask over blue green. Fibers from the rice paper are visible and add a little softness. The original is a little softer in color than this photo, but still beautiful.

#619 (sold)
Broken leaves in a spring green lay across a dress pattern background. This piece hangs well in any direction, there is no upside down. Have a great Monday!

Gals on green! A very soft grey print over a washy brilliant lime green background. Just a little bit of punch for your wall. That's it until Monday! And remember, by Monday morning all these little babies will be marked sold and put into the big box of inventory heading off to shows. Des Moines, and Denver, here I come!

#841 (sold)
We are off into the abstract this morning. A line crosses through the center, the dress pattern tissue doesn't cover the entire image. Colors include an almost turquoise, and cream. An odd duck for sure, but one of my recent favorites. Enjoy.

#843 (sold)
Playing with a little complimentary color this morning. Complimentary colors are directly opposite each other on the color wheel, purple/yellow, red/green, or in this case, orange and blue. Nothing like a funky chicken to start your day.

A scribble. Scribbled, refined, traced, and transferred in mirror image to linoleum. Further refined, and carved. Inked, printed, and collaged. Just a scribble, in warm coppery brown on grey, with a hint of inky blue lines from the pattern tissue. Have a great day.

Blah blah blah (sold)
A new chatterbox is in the works, and this (elle)ement shows off a little fragment of what she will have going on. And just so you know, I have two big shows coming up quickly on the horizon. The Des Moines Art Festival, in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Cherry Creek Festival in Denver, CO. As of a week from today (June 24) all unsold (elle)ements on this blog will be marked sold and packed up into show inventory. All new additions to this blog after the 24th will be available as usual. So if you've had your eye on a piece, this would be a good time to move on it. $25 each? You can do that.

#775 (sold)
A hot pink geranium on a beautiful coral background. No fooling around here, this is pink. The flecks of white are the fibers in the rice paper. What a nice way to end out the week, see you back here on Monday!

#776 (sold)
This is one of those pieces where you are going to love the simplicity of it, the economy of line, or not. Pink, with a grey print on rice paper. Enjoy.

#789 (sold)
The repeating pattern this morning is printed in peach, on a ruby red background. Printed on a piece of pattern tissue for an apron. I don't come across apron patterns very often, so don't dawdle if you want this one, it would be tough to recreate, or even get close. Enjoy! I have a busy day, time to get on it!

It's a newer, bigger target. And if you see that word capitalized, like the store, try not to. I'm still cranky that the store has managed to take such an awesome graphic and claim it so entirely. The red is a vibrating coral, the target has a hint of blue. Just enough blue to get some tension from the complementary color aspect working. That's a lot of extra color theory talk for one morning.
And it looks every bit as good hanging sideways, or upside down. Strong pieces like this are what direct the eye in a composition, work it.

It could be anywhere, but it's actually a tiny peek at a small town in the South of France. Almost black on a putty colored background. Ok, Monday, let's do this thing...

#772 (sold)
Let's start the weekend with a bit of a shout. A bullhorn in deep blue green. The background is actually quite yellowish, even though it didn't photograph that way. Have a great weekend all!

Two (sold)
We'll just call this one two for now, it's not it's actual number, that will be 700 and change. Have you noticed how big the numbers are getting around here? By the end of the weekend I will be numbering (elle)ements up in the 800's. And they all started with the first one, #1. That's a lot of 4" square canvases rolling around in the world. Not like the number of Thomas Kinkaide reproductions, but still...
So, Two is printed in a creamy yellow on a Simplicity dress pattern, the background is sort of a soft pumpkin. And it, like all the others on the blog is $25. There are some great collections being built out there folks, feel free to join in at any time!

This fragment of a chrysanthemum is printed in an orange sorbet on a pale lemon yellow. Very light and fresh, so summer!

#765 (sold)
I haven't put up many patterns lately. Patterns play well together, or make a nice break if you have a lot of (elle)ements of "things". This one is also the perfect anchor to a group if you put it at the bottom left corner. I think we could call this asparagus green, on a neutral, almost yellow background. Back to the studio for me!

A couple of simple green leaves rest on a background of robin's egg blue. A simple, quiet start to your Monday. Shhh.
